"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And another is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39)
We love God by loving others, and we love others by how we welcome, treat, and serve them.
St. John has long taken joy in outreach and serving others.

COMMUNITY CLOTHING ROOM

Our most visible, year-round ministry at St. John is our Community Clothing Room.
The Clothing Room started as a place people could get clothes to wear for job interviews and has grown to offer all types of clothing for all ages, coats, shoes, hats and other wearables, bedding and towels. All items in the Clothing Room are FREE; please spread the news of this great resource for our community!
Located in the church basement, access to the Clothing Room is through the door on the southwest side of the building, by the church offices. Current weekly hours for the Clothing Room are usually:

Mondays through Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

OUTREACH

Throughout the year, we reach out to our community and beyond with our Mission of the Month, Lenten offerings, and support of partner ministries in our mission plan.

As part of our 2026 "God's Work. Our Hands" Sunday, September 13, we will:

Make welcome bags for DSU students;
Make tie quilts for distribution as needed;
Prep our Community Clothing Room for our Saturday, September 19 Winter Coat and Apparel Give Away;
and more!

CHURCH COUNCIL AND COMMITTEES

We rely on our church council and committees to ensure our ministry happens. Active members at St. John are elected by the congregation to serve on our church council, with volunteers serving on the committees they represent. Our current council structure is:
